1,001 Indian Potains

The 1,001st Potain tower crane built at its plant in Pune, India has been shipped to local rental company Sai Infraaequipments.

The company purchased a five tonne MCi 85 A tower crane from the Pune factory which has almost tripled its production rate in the past six years to meet growing demand for Potain tower cranes in the region. Potain was the first manufacturer to build tower cranes in India, and is still one of the largest in the country with units being shipped as far afield as Peru.

The MCi 85 A has a maximum jib length of 50 metres and a maximum under hook height of 35.7 metres. It can lift 1.3 tonne at its jib tip.

Ashwani Mattoo, Potain tower crane sales director in India, said: “We are very proud to pass this milestone and set the standard as the leading producer of high-quality tower cranes in India. We have continually increased production to meet demand and expand our product range to offer more diversity. We look forward to making the next 1,000 cranes.”

Sai Infraaequipments now owns 11 Potain tower cranes, 10 of which are MCi 85s purchased in the last 12 months following an initial trial order. Managing director Katthirvelu Ilango said: “Potain has cemented its place as India’s leading producer of tower cranes, which made it an easy choice to buy this new crane. We work to tight schedules on many different projects so we need excellent equipment that can be flexible. Our new crane will get to work right away and we are certain it will be provide many years of efficient and reliable service.”
