Self-erector falls
A self-erecting tower crane overturned onto temporary school buildings in Landsberg, in the German state of Bavaria, last week.
The crane a Vicario, owned by a building company, was said to be brand new and had only recently been erected, the operator was lifting a load when the overload system ‘went off’ and the machine tipped into the new building. The load and jib came down onto some temporary classrooms behind the new wing that the crane was helping to build at the local girls school. Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident.
