Crane overturn in Istanbul
An large articulated crane overturned in Istanbul, Turkey yesterday blocking a major route over the Bosporus.
The information that we have received so far is confusing, what is clear is that a large articulated crane owned by Marmara Vinc overturned while lifting what looks like a concrete skip. Its boom came down on a passing car but thankfully the driver escaped relatively unhurt. It is also clear that the overturned crane had not extended its outriggers and clearly lacked the stability to support the overturning effect of the unfolded boom and load.

An excavator attempts to recover the crane or at least free the crushed car
A video we have seen shows a tracked excavator trying to lift the crane back on its wheels using a very dodgy looking set of chains. A second crane and heavy breakdown truck then arrive to help. Our local sources say that a second crane was then called in and then it also overturned while trying to recover the risks, however we have not seen that for ourselves.
We will update as we receive more information or further photographs.
