Frank Hasenfratz, the founder of Skyjack owner Linamar, has been appointed as a member of the Order of Canada.
His appointment, announced by Canada’s governor general on Friday, is for contributions to Canada’s manufacturing industry and his philanthropic initiatives. He began the multi-billion dollar car component and industrial group in 1964 when he set up a one man machine shop in his basement.
The company purchased 48 percent of Skyjack in 2001 increasing its stake to a controlling interest the following year. Hasenfratz’s daughter Linda now runs the company.
