Blueline acquires in Virginia

BlueLine Rental (previously Volvo Rents) has acquired Area Equipment, a rental company based in Cheasapeake, Virginia. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Area was founded in 2006 by Sean Jennings and JT Sutton both of whom are expected to stay on with BlueLine in regional management roles. The company offers a wide range of equipment including booms, scissor lifts and telehandlers.

This latest acquisition follows the recent take over of Trico in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Texas and last year’s purchase of JustRuss Rental of Alabama. Blueline itself was acquired from Volvo by private equity firm Platinum Equity in January 2014.

BlueLine chief executive Phil Hobson said: "Area Rental is a good strategic fit for BlueLine that will bolster our fleet and create an even stronger platform for us in the Mid-Atlantic region. Area has a well-deserved reputation for reliability and customer service, which is a credit to the founders of the business and all the people who have made Area such a success."

Platinum Equity Partner Louis Samson added: "As we continue delivering on our promise to help BlueLine grow, we are also working closely with the management team to seamlessly integrate each new location into the BlueLine network. All three of the recent add-on acquisitions are very complementary, present immediate synergies, and strengthen our mix of equipment and customers."
