First UK Palfinger P550

UK rental company Orion Access has taken delivery of the first 55 metre Palfinger P550 truck mounted platform in the UK.

Big brother to the the P480, the 55 metre P550 shares many of its features, including its X-jib with 240 degrees of articulation and 400 degrees of platform rotation. Outreach on the P550 is 41 metres, with 20 metres of it coming from a longer upper boom/jib, while the rest of the additional height comes from longer main boom sections.

Neil Lawrence of Onion said: “Running with a 45 and 61 metre Wumag we wanted something in between. What we got is a machine with tremendous outreach, with a 19 metre upper boom, 360 degree cage rotation and the ability of up and over reach, which is ideal for London.”
