Crane takes dip in Gold Coast

A crane operator had a lucky escape yesterday after his Franna pick & carry crane crashed through a motorway bridge barrier on the M1, in the Coomera area of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia yesterday, landing in the river below.
The crane went through a bridge guardrail and into the river

The operator, Brett Marr, managed to escape from the cab of the crane which is owned and operated by Lindores. He was then helped to the river’s edge by a passing motorist. What exactly caused the crane to veer off the road is uncertain at this stage.
A 350 tonne crane was called in to recover the stricken crane and a crew was called in to clean up an oil spill.
The crane is lifted from the river
