The fallen jib

The crane was working on an apartment block in Burkit OUG when, according to local police reports, the luffing cable snapped. The jib then dropped onto two Bangladeshi men working below, causing serious injuries. One man lost his hand, while another has a broken leg.

While the initial police report states that the incident was due to a luffing jib cable failure, there are signs this might be a regular tower crane with a failure in the jib support pendant? We will update once we have more information.
