Reaching the window

Spotted by a reader in Rome yesterday a man trying to clean - or is he painting? – the outside of a very high set of windows.

Reaching the window with step latter, car and wall ledge

In order to reach he has a very long telescopic pole, but that not being long enough, he has added a ladder but even combining them does not reach the 12 metre or so high window. So he has perched one end of the ladder on a tiny ledge on the wall with the other leg resting on the roof of his car and with this combination he just appears to be able to reach. What sort of quality of work he is managing is anyone’s guess.

In the meantime he is putting himself in danger of straining himself and more critically falling, and even though not too high a fall from this level can easily prove fatal.
