Ladder not good?

A reader driving through the town of Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, UK, on Tuesday spotted a man on a ladder with no idea what he was doing wrong
It seems that the man had no feel for the fact that going above the ladders resting point crates a cantilever effect that might cause the ladder to go over, throwing him onto the spiked railings. Or over the fence onto his head.

The scene is probably best recounted in the animated style of our contributor:

Looks reasonable enough

“I couldn't quite believe my eyes when I drove past this man, so I spun round to take a closer look. When I got back the chap had moved from the white flag to commence work on the black flag.
Business card in hand I beckoned him down only to find that English was not his first language, his response to me highlighting the dangers and trying to explain how a work platform could help the situation was, “ladder not good?” to which I replied “correct, ladder very not good”!
I contacted the chaps employers (well I got as far as the receptionist at least) to highlight the situation and was asked to introduce our services via email and told that they would be passed on to the relevant person.

But as he climbed higher the risks increase

Perhaps the media that is the world wide web will reinforce the message to the masses.”
Definitely one for our Death Wish series
Have a safe weekend
