Fatal loading incident

A man died this morning in Belgium after a truck struck the platform of a boom lift he was in the process of loading.

The incident occurred in Drogenbos, on the South east side of Brussels, the man, 24, was driving the mid sized articulated self-propelled boom lift out through the main gates of rental company Loxam in order to load it on his truck, which was parked in the street. It seems that the platform protruded into the road where it was struck by the passing garbage truck, the impact swung the machine’s superstructure around, causing it to hit a pole.

The man suffered a major back injury and died at the scene. The damage to the truck appeared surprisingly light. At this point we do not know if the deceased was a third party driver or a Loxam employee. We will update as we receive more information.
