Two key senior appointments at Hertz

Hertz Equipment has appointed a new chief financial officer and a new general counsel to help with the transition to an independent, stand-alone company.

Barbara Brasier joins as chief financial officer effective immediately, she will oversee the company’s global finance function, including accounting, analysis, audit services, budgeting, control, planning, tax, treasury and reporting. She is also expected to play a key role in positioning Hertz Equipment in the capital markets and developing relationships with banks, ratings agencies, institutional investors and financial analysts.

Barbara Brasier


Brasier joins Hertz from food company Mondelez International – a company that was created as a spin-off from Kraft in 2012- where she was senior vice president, tax and treasury. Before that she had spent almost four years with Kraft in various finance and treasury roles, including a spell in Europe. Before that she spent more four years with Ingersoll Rand as treasurer. She joined Ingersoll from the packaging industry, from 2000 to 2002 as president of Mead Corporation and then a couple of years with MeadWestvaco.

Maryann Waryjas has also joined the company as general counsel, effective and will lead all aspects of Hertz Equipment’s global legal function, including contractual- and transaction-related legal activities and regulatory and litigation matters. She will also oversee the company’s corporate governance and statutory reporting requirements leading up to and following its launch as a stand-alone public company.

Maryann Waryjas


Waryjas joins Hertz from Great Lakes Dredge & Dock where she was chief legal officer and company secretary. She is also a director of the Chicago Stock Exchange. She joined Great Lakes in 2012 after a legal career with various law firms, including more than 22 years as a partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman, Jenner & Block and Kirkland & Ellis. She started out as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis in 1983.

Hertz group chief executive Larry Silber said: "I am thrilled to welcome Barb and Maryann to Hertz Equipment Rental. Their diverse and relevant career experience, extraordinary subject matter expertise and demonstrated business acumen greatly strengthen our leadership team. With Barb and Maryann on board, Hertz Equipment now has a full C-level team with substantial managerial and governance experience to execute its growth plan and remains on track for its mid-2016 separation from Hertz Global Holdings”.

"Just as important to building our C-suite team, over the past five months we have added considerable depth and breadth to our senior management team with approximately 20 highly experienced and industry-knowledgeable staff joining the business in field operations, sales, IT, finance and other business-critical roles. Also, we have engaged Huron Consulting Group, a leading provider of business consulting services, to partner with our Program Management Office to help keep us oriented toward a successful separation and for our long-term future as a stand-alone company."
