Hewden acquires Interlift
UK crane, access and telehandler rental company Hewden has purchased UK-based lifting gear and materials handling supplier Interlift.
The acquisition is Hewden’s first in more than 10 years, and the first since it was itself acquired byprivate equity firm Sun European Partners in 2010. The company says that the move is part of a strategy to add further products and services for customers in key construction, industrial and events sectors.
Interlift was founded in 2006 and operates from depots in Middlesbrough, Hull and Glasgow, offering a range of products for sale and rental, including hoists, lifting straps, shackles, beam and plate clamps, height safety equipment and man baskets, from suppliers such as Crosby, Ridgegear, Tractel, Straightpoint, RUD, Columbus McKinnon and Tiger.
It also offers a repair, maintenance testing and inspection service for the same products.
Interlift was owned by Kevin Chalmers, was financially sound with a tangible net worth- according to its latest accounts- of £688,000 and employs 34. It will continue to operate independently, but will add additional outlets at some of some of Hewdens depots.
