Chairman for Hertz Equipment

Hertz Equipment Rental has appointed Herbert Henkel, a previous chairman and chief executive of Ingersoll Rand as non-executive chairman.

The move follows the separation of Hertz Equipment Rental from the Hertz car rental business later this year. Henkel was chief executive of Ingersoll Rand from 1999 until he retired in February 2010 and was chairman 2000 until June 2010. He also a director of 3M, Allstate and C.R. Bard.

Hertz group chief executive John Tague said: “Herb Henkel has had a long and distinguished career in the equipment business. His experience, insight and guidance will be invaluable to Hertz Equipment Rental as it continues to transform its business. As a result of his executive roles and prior board positions at several Fortune 500 corporations, Herb will provide broad strategic oversight as board chairman as well as a deep understanding of board responsibilities and a focus on creating shareholder value.”
