20,000 van mounts

Versalift has delivered its 20,000th van mounted lift, following a formal hand over at Bauma last Thursday.

The bright orange unit sold was used as part of a competition, asking visitors to its stand to guess how many van mounted lifts the company had produced so far. In other wards what number was the machine on the stand? Overall the manufacturer has delivered more than 100,000 aerial lifts worldwide, 20,000 of them van mounts.

The ceremonial unveiling was carried out by Per Torp, chief executive of Time International of Denmark. The unit was sold to Swarco the international traffic management group, which carries out a range of work, such as street sign cleaning and maintenance, and a host of other work, all intended to keep traffic moving.

Headquartered in Deizisau near Stuttgart, Swarco operates from 14 offices in Germany, with 140 employees. It mainly runs 14 to 17 metre van mounts, 27 of them from Versalift.

The latest unit is a compact 14.2 metre ETM38-145-F truck mounted lift 8.1 metres of outreach. Maximum capacity is 230kg. Raimund Scheulen of Swarco took delivery of the keys for the new machine from Time International’s chief executive Per Torp in a special ceremony at Bauma on the Thursday.
