Paul Fereday who currently heads the specialist products group, takes over as managing director of A-Plant's largest business, the Plant and Tool Hire operation.

A-Plant's chief executive officer, Sat Dhaiwal, said:"the appointments of Steve Shaughnessy and Paul Fereday has significantly strengthened our senior management team. Steve has an impressive track record in the hire industry at a senior level. He was formerly operational director for our Powered Access business and prior to joining A-Plant, was chief operating officer for US-based National Equipment Services (NES) with overall responsibility for over 200 locations across 34 states, 3,500 employees and over $1 billion of assets."

"Paul has an equally impressive track record in the hire industry. Prior to being made managing director of our Specialist Products business in 2002, he was formerly an operational director and originally started as a depot manager for A-Plant. He achieved highly impressive operational and financial results in his role as managing director of Specialist Products and I look forward to the Plant and Tool business delivering exceptional levels of growth under Paul's leadership. The tool hire sector in particular represents a major area for growth and this is one of our key development areas this year," he continued.

A-Plant has more than 200 locations throughout England, Scotland and Wales. The company had revenues of £156.3 million last year, while pre-tax profits nearly trebled to £11.7 million.
