Terex cranes champion welder
An apprentice from Terex Cranes Germany, Elias Sutter has won the world championship arc welding title for hand arc welding.
The German team also took second place overall at this year’s Arc Cup world welding championships for young welders, which took place in Beijing from the 18th to the 20th June. The apprentice from Zweibrücken said: : “For me, just getting to the world championships and competing against the best young welders in the world was in itself a fantastic success. I can hardly believe that I have now actually won the title.”
Klaus Beulker, senior director operations and managing director of Terex Zweibrücken added: “The fact that our apprentice Elias Sutter competed in the world championships in Beijing is further evidence of the high level of training at our Zweibrücken site, which has for a long time been among the best in the world. A key person in this latest success is our training supervisor Jürgen Hoffmann, who has been committed to the development of our young people for many years. I should therefore like to explicitly thank him too at this point.”

Sutter qualified for the four-man German team by winning the hand arc welding section of the national “Jugend schweißt” welding competition in September 2015. A month later the German team went on to secure its place at the world championships in China by taking a strong second place at the European Welding Cup in Cambridge, UK.
