Gloria for Texas terminal

US-based JR Intermodal's Green Transport Terminal has taken delivery of a new Kalmar 45 tonne Super Gloria reachstacker to unload containers from barges.

The new DRG450-65S5X - purchased from Houston, Texas-based dealer Darr Equipment - is the first of its kind to be delivered in the region. Reaching the fourth row of containers in the barge - further than Kalmar’s standard machine - it is fitted with K-Motion drive train technology, ECO driving modes and an elevating cab which gives the operator a much better view. The deal also includes 24 hour maintenance.

The DRG450-65S5X will load and unload containers from barges

JR’s new purchase is a result of the Panama Canal’s expansion project which is expected increase Green Transport Terminal’s yearly TEU (20ft equivalent unit) from 20,000 to 40,000.
