Management buy-out at MTS Nationwide

UK sales and rental company MTS Nationwide - the Bobcat dealer for Northern England and Scotland - has been acquired via a management buy-out.

MTS was established more than 25 years ago as a supplier of welding, fume extraction and pipework equipment to the UK petrochemical sector. It now operates from locations in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, Leigh in Lancashire, Chester Le Street in County Durham and Cumbernauld, Scotland and supplies a wide range of construction and agricultural equipment for both sale and rental as well as golf carts, and welding equipment.

The company trades under three names, MTS Plant Hire & Sales, MTS Golf and Utility vehicles and MTS Welding hire and sales. It employs around 50 with revenues of £7.2 million in 2015.

The company will now be led by husband and wife team Iain and Sarah Black and Matthew Watson, who will step up into an ownership and executive directorship role as part of the transaction. Current managing director, Peter Watson - who has been with the business for the last 22 years - becomes chairman for a period of time.
