PASMA adds technical support role

PASMA, the UK based access/mobile scaffold tower association has appointed John Darby as head of technical support, a newly created position.

Darby joins the association after 10 years with Youngman, - now Werner UK- where he was UK manufacturing engineering manager for two years. He began his career as a design engineer, joining Elmdene Security & Fire Products in 2005, then moving to Youngman in 2007 as product development engineer. His roles at Youngman included senior design engineer, technical manager moving up to operations manager in 2012.

Since 2015, Darby has also been chairman of PASMA’s Technical Committee and sits on B514/24, the UK Tower Standards Committee and TC53/WG4, the European committee responsible for revising EN 1004, the European product standard for mobile access towers.

Darby said: “My 10 years with Youngman have been extremely rewarding and enjoyable. I now look forward to working at the heart of the industry and helping shape the future direction, work and role of the association and supporting its many members.”

PASMA technical director Don Aers added: “John’s knowledge and experience of the tower industry will be invaluable to the association. Virtually all his working life has been devoted to designing and developing towers to improve their safety, flexibility and effectiveness.”
