Synthetic rope for German Grove
German heavy lift and haulage company Auto-Klug has taken delivery of a 100 tonne Grove GMK4100L-1 All Terrain crane, equipped with K-100 synthetic rope.
The four axle crane features a 60 metre main boom and 11.1 to 17.6 metre telescopic swingaway extension. The crane is the first in Germany to be fitted with new K-100 rope, which is 80 percent lighter than regular wire rope and features torque-neutral technology, to eliminate load spin. The crane has been delivered to the company’s Bindlach branch in south east Germany.

Managing partner Werner Glück said: “We are pleased to take delivery of such a versatile crane. Its 100 tonne capacity on four axles is very impressive, and combined with the 60 metre boom, it will enable us to manoeuvre the crane in tighter job sites and complete lifts that we once had to use larger cranes for. We were also convinced by the single engine concept with reduced fuel consumption, which will increase our utilisation and return on investment.”
“We have been very intrigued by the K-100 synthetic rope and the benefits it offers. It helps by reducing weight and maintenance, it also makes it easier for the operator to reeve the rope on the jib and hook blocks. It will eliminate some of the issues they face with kinking, bird caging and spooling damage. In the end, this will also help us reduce costs.”
