New CEO for Huisman
Dutch heavy crane and offshore manufacturer Huisman has appointed Theo Bruijninckx as chief executive, he takes up his new role from today.
The appointment follows the decision by chief executive Joop Roodenburg to step down and move to a new, more strategic role of president. Bruijninckx will have overall responsibility for the day to day operation of the company, while Roodenburg will focus on the development of “step changing technical solutions and the valued relationships with customers.”
Bruijninckx, 55, joined the company last May as chief financial officer and board member from contractor Ballast Nedam, where he was chief executive. He had worked at the company since 1990 when he came on board as a management trainee, following a year as an accountant with Ernst and Whinney. He moved steadily up through the ranks at Ballast Nedham, becoming chief financial officer and a board member in 2002 , taking over as chief executive in 2007.

Roodenburg said: ”Since 1981 Huisman has been a family owned business. I have taken over from my father and my wish is to handover the company to the next generation. I am 67 now and want to step into a new role which allows me to fully focus on innovative technology for our current and new markets. We have been working with Theo for almost a year now and are convinced that he will further build on a solid and more structured foundation for our company. Besides his proven experience in a sector relevant to our business, we share the same conviction that innovation is key for the success of Huisman. In addition, we have come to know him as a no-nonsense, straightforward and pleasant person”.
