Eco spider crane – with tracks
Japanese spider crane manufacturer Unic and its European master distributor GGR/Unic Cranes Europe, will launch a new 2.9 tonne tracked Eco battery powered spider crane at Intermat next week.
The new crane is essentially a tracked version of the standard wheeled Eco 295 model that the company launched a few years ago, but with the benefits of tracks for lower ground bearing pressures and the ability to handle rough ground. As with the wheeled model it employs most of the crane componentry from the standard Unic URW 295.
The tracked crane has a slightly wider overall stowed width but can still easily fit through standard double doors. It is powered by large a 48 Volt battery pack, while its standard five section boom offers a maximum tip height of around 9.5 metres which can be extended by almost a metre with the offsetting jib. Capacity on full boom is 550kg at up to 4.1 metres radius.

Graeme Riley, chief executive of GGR/Unic Cranes Europe said: “The wheeled version of our Eco spider cranes have been well received by our customers throughout Europe. These machines were originally developed for use in environmentally sensitive areas such as food processing plants, but with an increasingly environmentally conscious market place, we have seen growing demand for battery powered and hybrid options.”
The crane will appear on the GGR/Unic stand at Intermat which opens on Monday morning. A full guide to lifting equipment at the show can be found and downloaded at
