Mastclimbing slip closes road
A mastclimbing platform working on the façade of a tower block in Portsmouth, UK, developed a problem yesterday evening.
It looks as though one of the motors, brakes and or locks has failed causing one end of the platform to drop. Alternatively it is possible the opposite motor powered up when it should not have done? As far as we understand no was hurt or involved in the incident, but the local city authorities have closed the road as a precaution. The platform is working on a new 23 storey student accommodation block.

Something caused one side of the platform to drop.
Main contractor Osborne said: "We are aware of an issue at Portsmouth One. No one has been injured. It is too early to comment, but we are currently investigating alongside other agencies to establish exactly what has happened."
