Rental company best place to work

Australian rental company Kennards has been named as one of the best places to work in the annual Best Places to Work survey.

The family owned company achieved seventh place in the 10 companies with more than a 1,000 employees – just ahead of DHL and just below Mars. It is the only rental company among the 50, which also includes 20 companies with 100 to 999 employees and 20 companies with less than 100 employees. Most are the typical companies that you find in these studies – such as IT and financial service companies, although a few specialist construction companies also made it into this year’s survey.

The survey is based on a number of factors, with employees’ responses making up two thirds of the points and the other third by a number of factors assessed by the organiser Great Place to Work.

Kennard’s general manager of people and culture Sally Craig said: “On behalf of every person working at Kennards Hire, we are delighted to be recognised in this year’s Great Place to Work Best Places to Work study. It is humbling to work for an organisation where culture and values isn’t just an HR initiative, they are lead and embraced by everyone who works at Kennards and known amongst our people as the ‘thing’, the ‘essence’ that makes this business special.”

“This win reinforces that by listening and responding to feedback from our employees, everyone wins - our people, customers, suppliers and Kennards Hire. As a result, we are able to retain and attract talented people, who in turn provide exceptional service and support to our customers and suppliers every day.”

Vertikal Comment

It is nice to see an equipment rental company featured in one of these reports, especially a larger one. Of course, what does help is that the company responded to calls for entries and probably encouraged employees to complete the survey forms which run to more than 90 questions - but encouraging and nice to see all the same, and it cannot but help improve the industry’s image thus helping with recruitment of talented young people.
