16 new cranes for Select

UK rental company Select Plant Hire has taken delivery of 16 Terex tower cranes, with a further 20 to 30 units expected to ordered over the next 12 months.

The recent additions include eight 32 tonne CTL 630B-32, two 45 tonne CTL 650F-45, and four 18 tonne CTL 272-18 luffing jib tower cranes, as well as two 16 tonne CTT 332-16 flat top tower cranes. Many of the cranes are new additions to Select’s fleet, while the CTT 332-16s have replaced older CTT 331-16 models.

Terex CTL 272-18 luffing jib tower crane

Edward Carr of Select said: “The new models have been very successful in the UK market. Our customers continue to demand even greater lifting capacity and greater engineering support as schemes become bigger and more complex. Our fleet of large luffing cranes has been developed to service their requirements and the Terex CTL 630B-32 has been hugely successful in delivering major projects such as Battersea Power Station in the UK.”

“At the same time we are also focusing on reinvesting in our small to mid range cranes. The Terex CTL 272-18 mid range luffing jib tower crane was developed with UK markets in mind with an improved freestanding height, out of service radius and telematics.”

Established in 1985, Select is based in Dartford, Kent, with depots in Erith, Grimsby, St Neots and Wincham, along with operations in Australia and the United Arab Emirates. Part of the Laing O'Rourke construction group, the Select fleet includes tower cranes, crawler cranes, aerial lifts and hoists.
