Alimak acquires tech supplier

Alimak has acquired one of its major suppliers - Dataline i Borås which has manufactured control systems for Alimak’s construction hoists and permanent lifts for more than two decades.

The company says that the acquisition follows its strategy to invest in technologies to enable new, enhanced products and services, to increase future productivity and safety for customers.

Dataline i Borås AB has a reputation for developing smart embedded controls for lift applications and is dependent on Alimak for the majority of its revenues.

Alimak says the acquisition is a first step in establishing an ‘Internet of Things’ development hub for new solutions that will increase the performance and functionality of the group’s products and services, with the aim to increase safety and productivity for customers.

Alimak chief executive Tormod Gunleiksrud added: “After many years of successful, close partnership with Dataline, this acquisition makes a good foundation for our future hub for new smart vertical access solutions through digitalisation.”
