The Bauma exhibition in Munich closed just over an hour ago with hundreds of exhibitors sounding the horns of their equipment for the last half hour of the event.
The organisers claim a seven percent rise in attendance to more than 620,000 visitors from around 200 countries, breaking the previous record set in 2016.
The number of overseas attendees was sharply higher at around 250,000, the top 10 countries after Germany being Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Poland and the UK.
One of the sharpest rises in attendees was from China, with 5,500 Chinese visitors during the week. In total there were close to 3,700 exhibitors from 63 countries – also a new record.
The next Bauma will be held in Munich on the 4th April 2022 until the 10th.
