German crane and heavy haulage company HKV Schmitz + Partner has taken delivery of a 500 tonne Liebherr LR 1500, the company’s first crawler crane.
The crane has a maximum lift height of 165 metres, a maximum radius of 144 metres and an overall width of 9.1 metres, and replaces a Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 All Terrain crane in the company’s fleet. Its first job is a power plant construction project.
Managing director Michael Schmitz said: “We analysed the market and the future requirements of our customers. We also modernise our fleet continuously and invest in the latest technology. Purchasing a 500 tonne crawler crane gives us a whole new range of ways to serve our customers and to acquire new customers.”
“We decided on the LR 1500 because it is one of the most modern crawler cranes on the market. It has short setup times and features high safety standards for the setup and operating personnel – aspects which are extremely important to us. The LR 1500 is very compact yet delivers high lifting capacities. Compared to other crawler cranes, it is much more economical to transport. The new crane delivers some significant benefits.”
Established in 1995, HKV is based in Cologne, western Germany. The company employs 45 and operates a fleet of 26 cranes, all from Liebherr.
