Kobelco appoints Scott-Macon

Kobelco Cranes has appointed Scott-Macon Equipment as an authorised dealer for North East Texas and the state of Oklahoma.

The dealership will supported from the company’s locations in Dallas,Texas along with Oklahoma City and Tulsa in Oklahoma and includes sales, service and the supply or replacement parts. The company said: Being the official dealer for Kobelco will allow us to expand the variety of quality cranes and service that we can offer our customers.”

Founded in 1973 Scott-Macon is based in Houston and is also an authorised dealer for Tadano, Tadano Mantis, Terex, Demag and Broderson cranes, along with Genie aerial lifts and telehandlers. It operates from 11 locations across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

As a strong Terex Crane distributor, Scott-Macon previously had access to Terex branded IHI lattice boomed crawler cranes. The sale of the Terex crane operations, announced earlier this year and the ending of the IHI OEM deal put this source in question, leaving the company to look for a replacement. It has certainly found one in Kobelco and will of course be looking to expand its territory going forward. As a strong Tadano dealer it will also expect to retain the dealership for big Demag crawler cranes, following the completion of the Demag acquisition at the end of this month.
