More robots for Boss

Ladder, mobile tower and low level aerial lift manufacturer WernerCo has invested £1.1 million in robotics for its BoSS scaffold tower production line at its facility in Maldon, Essex, UK.

The company has installed new ABB Autodeck Cell robotic manufacturing technology to produce the BoSS 1.8 to 3.2 metre fixed and trapdoor tower decks. The investment is aimed at streamlining the production process and reduce the need for manual handling, improving productivity and reducing any health and safety issues.

Maldon site manager Jan Zmrzlik said: “Decks are an integral part of a tower safety and this specialised process ensures that every deck that leaves our factory is of the same quality. We are always looking at ways in which we can improve our production lines and this investment in new Autodeck Cell technology has helped to provide a streamlined process to support the rest of the operation here at our factory. As well as delivering a daily production rate to keep up with customer demand, we can ensure that we continue to provide users with a first class product.”
