Crane operator electrocuted

A crane operator was electrocuted yesterday in Poonamallee, on the west side of Chennai, India.

The man, named as Parthasarathy, 50, was using the crane to move a container at a private container yard in Poonamallee, when the boom came into contact with overhead power lines.

The assistant crane operator rushed in to try and save him, but was thrown back by an electric shock, causing serious burns and other injuries. The operator was declared dead at the scene, while his assistant was rushed to hospital.
