Shawmut’s new Canadian facility
US based crane distributor And rental company Shawmut Equipment has opened a new purpose built facility in Elmsdale, near Halifax in Nova Scotia.
The new location becomes the company’s Canadian headquarters and features, designed and built to the company’s requirements it includes multiple repair bays equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment, two nine tonne overhead cranes, a large parts warehouse, office space a large yard. Shawmut is distributor for all cranes within the Manitowoc Crane group, including Grove All Terrain, truck, industrial and Rough Terrain cranes as well as the Grove branded telescopic crawler cranes built by Sennebogen, along with Manitowoc crawler cranes, National Crane boom trucks, Broderson carry deck cranes. It also sells Terex Utilities aerial work platforms on Marooka tracked carriers.

Shawmut Equipment of Canada president Joe Vergoni said: “We are pleased to announce this new Shawmut Equipment location and we know that it will serve customers well, due to the sheer amount of demand we have been experiencing in the region. Shawmut is based in Manchester, Connecticut was established in 1957 by George J. O’Connell as a crane distributor for Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. In 1978, His son, David became president, and today his sons, Brian and Kevin, and nephew, Joe Vergoni also work within the company. The company also has locations in South Easton, Massachusetts and Saint John, New Brunswick.
