LHM 800 for Danish port
The Port of Esbjerg in Denmark has taken delivery of a 308 tonne Liebherr LHM 800 mobile harbour crane.
The LHM 800 has a maximum working radius of 66 metres with a maximum lift height of 48 metres. It will also enable the port to perform tandem lifts up to 448 tonnes in combination with one of its other Liebherr mobile harbour cranes. The company says it has purchased the LHM 800 to keep pace with developments in the offshore industry that are resulting in larger and heavier loads, such as the components for offshore wind turbines in the North Sea.

Chief executive Dennis Jul Pedersen said: “I am pleased that we are expanding our crane capacity considerably with the new crane. We need to be able to handle more and more large cargo in the future, and therefore we need to rearm. I am also pleased with the fact that only few ports in the world have a similar crane because it shows that Port Esbjerg is a heavyweight internationally.”
Liebherr Danmark managing director Kristian Holst added: “We are happy to be able to deliver yet another crane to Port Esbjerg which already has five of our Liebherr mobile harbour cranes. The fact that it is a crane of this calibre, with the ability to lift a whole new type of high and heavy cargo, shows that the scale of activities is growing rapidly at Port Esbjerg.”
