Gottwald for Australia

Australia’s Townsville Marine Logistics has taken delivery of an electric Konecranes Gottwald G HMK 6507 Model 6 mobile harbour crane.

The new crane is a two rope variant with a maximum capacity of 125 tonnes. It features a land side lowering function, reducing noise and the possibility of damage to the spreader, containers and wharf, while using the port’s AC mains power for more efficient and quieter operation, meeting the strict environmental requirements of both Townsville Marine Logistics and the trade association Ports Australia.

Established in 2018, Townsville Marine Logistics is a stevedoring company located in Townsville on the North Queensland coast. It is a subsidiary of smelting company Korea Zinc, and its primary customer is a sister organisation, Sun Metals Refinery.

Townsville’s new G HMK 6507

Townsville Marine Logistics operations manager Damien Scott said: “We are thrilled to partner with Konecranes on the purchase of our first mobile harbour crane in Townsville. Under a tight schedule, it was good to see commissioning completed swiftly and professionally. We’re now in the training and familiarisation phase, and are confident we’ll soon achieve best practice productivity with our new Model 6 crane. We are already planning for a second one.”
