New Genie High Float and Trax boom lifts

Genie has added new High Float and Trax boom lifts to its range, including the 45ft Z-45 HF articulated model, and S-40 HF, S-45 HF, S-60 HF and S-65 HF straight booms as well as the S-40 Trax, S-45 Trax, S-60 Trax and S-65 Trax machines.

All nine new models are based on the company's Xtra Capacity XC booms and comply with the new ANSI A92 and CSA B354 standards in North America, as well as European EN280 and Australian AS 1418.10 standards.

The S-60 HF and S-65 HF booms will have air filled - rather than foam filled - tyres

The S-60 HF and S-65 HF booms will have air filled - rather than foam filled - tyres due to weight problems, but they will maintain minimum stability requirements even when punctured and subjected to the resulting dynamic load.

“Genie customers say that HF tyres need to be air filled rather than foam filled to enable them to ‘float’ and protect soft or delicate surfaces such as sand or turf that could be damaged by more aggressive tread on regular rough terrain tires,” said Genie product manager Marie Engstrom.

The new booms are available in North America from this month and will be offered in some European region countries early next year, pending CE certification and country specific regulations approval. All new HF models offer an unrestricted platform capacity of 272kg. In addition, the new S-60 HF and 65 HF have a 454kg restricted capacity. The new Trax models offer 272kg unrestricted and 454kg restricted.

Some of the new XC booms - including the HF and Trax machines - also feature an increased maximum slope angle of seven degrees and are now fitted with cut outs.

Interesting if the pneumatic floatation tyres offer a significant "terrainability" improvement in the sand and soft ground. Their "TRAX" brothers will be superior in this area. The article suggests that the tyres offer ground protection which would be secondary to the improved terrainability if this metri is significantly improved. Also what level of puncture sealant is required such as "trac-seal" product is this a standard fill in the tyre to reduce the impact of a puncture.
