Rail boom for tunnel work

Austrian construction company Implenia-Swietelsky Tunnelbau has taken delivery of a 41ft Platform Basket RR14 EVO articulated road rail boom lift.

The RR14 EVO3 is able to work on wheels or tracks with a 1.9 metre gauge track set, and features automatic self-levelling of the superstructure allowing it to work on banked and inclined tracks or out of level ground conditions. The lift also includes a new Euro V diesel, and an onboard generator to provide power to the platform. It offers a maximum outreach of 9.3 metres and 160kg unrestricted platform capacity, while five metres outreach is possible with the maximum 400kg platform capacity.

The new platform was sold and delivered by Platform Basket’s Austrian dealer Kunze and has been helping with the drilling of the 13km long Semmering-Basis tunnel, a key element of a 27.3km rail link from Gloggnitz to Mürzzuschlag in eastern Austria.
