First MCR 295 in Singapore

Singaporean rental company Manta Equipment has taken delivery of a Potain MCR 295 H20 luffing jib tower crane, the first in the country.

The MCR 295 H20 has a maximum capacity of 20 tonnes and a maximum jib length of 60 metres. The crane has gone to work with construction company Dragages Singapore to help build the CapitaSpring skyscraper. Upon completion, the S$1.82 billion development will be 280 metres high, featuring 51 stories of office space, ancillary retail space and residencies.

Dragages Singapore managing director Julien Esch said: “There were not many cranes with the capacity we need plus the ability to reach the final building height in an efficient manner. We consulted with Manta and decided the MCR 295 was the right model. Although it is still relatively new, it has the features to meet our job site needs. With the MCR 295, we were able to rig the crane with a 40 metre jib, so that it can operate within the tight constraints of the job site.”

Potain regional sales manager Suman Das added: “With a compact two metre by two metre footprint and optional Top Tracing II anti collision system, the MCR 295 is ideal for congested urban projects. Owners can choose from a variety of winch options too, all with Potain’s unique variable frequency drive technology that offers smooth acceleration and precise control.”

Manta Equipment primarily serves the construction and infrastructure sectors in Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore. In Singapore the company has been renting Potain cranes for around 25 years, with around 70 units in its fleet.
