Kalmar software agreement for PT

Australian terminal operator Patrick Terminals has signed a software maintenance and support agreement with Kalmar.

The agreement, which covers the equipment automation systems at Patrick’s Brisbane and Sydney AutoStrad terminals, will see Kalmar provide software maintenance and support with around the clock on call service for 80 automated Kalmar straddle carriers. The agreement also covers platform compatibility, continuous improvement and optimisation.

Michael Houen, national automation manager at Patrick Terminals, said: “Partnering with Kalmar gives us continuity of support for our mission critical automation technology, providing a solid base to continuously improve our operational productivity and reduce operational costs.”

Mika Seppä, senior director of customer and project Services at Kalmar, added: “With this agreement Patrick Terminals will be able to further enhance what is already a world class automation solution to achieve higher levels of operational efficiency with lower operating costs. Based in Matraville, Sydney, Patrick Terminals handles more than three million containers a year from its terminals in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle. The company currently runs a fleet of more than 120 Kalmar straddle carriers – 80 automated models and 40 manual units.
