World first Wolff 133Bs for Churchill

The Plant Services division of UK retirement home developer Churchill Retirement Living has taken delivery of the first four Wolffkran 133.8B hydraulic luffing cranes.

Launched at Bauma last year, the eight tonne Wolffkran 133.8B is the smallest luffing crane in the Wolffkran range along with the 6.2 tonne 133.6B variant. Maximum jib length is 45 metres with a jib tip capacity of 2.3 tonnes. As with the company’s larger 166B, the new crane can be operated in single or two fall mode, while the modular tower system also allows a freestanding height of 95 metres. A 45kW electric powered HW 845 FU from the 166 B for maximum speeds of 158 metres a minute.

Mark Church, manager of Churchill Retirement Living’s Plant Services, said: “The smooth erection and commissioning of a crane directly delivered to the job site has proved the quality of the product, the level of support offered by Wolffkran and our choice in the right crane supplier.”

Based in Ringwood, Churchill Retirement Living took delivery of the first Wolff 133.8B last July with the remaining three units now delivered to job sites Burnham, Hythe and Taunton. The company has said the purchase is part of a replacement plan to convert its fleet of saddle jib to luffing jib cranes.
