Finnsiirto acquires Simeri

Finnish forklift and telehandler sales and rental company Finnsiirto - backed by private equity firm Folmer Equity Fund II - has acquired aerial work platform sales and service company Simeri.

Based in Vantaa, to the north east of Helsinki, Simeri was established in 1995 and sells a wide range of platforms including Genie, Snorkel, Nagano, Almac, Trojan and Innotech from 10 locations throughout Finland and the Baltics. It also provides spare parts and technical service support for JLG, UpRight, Snorkel, Hinowa, Haulotte and Böcker products as well as offering a wide variety of inspections and testing services.

The company also operates throughout Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, with its sister company, Simeri Estonia, which was recently appointed as a distributor for Leguan aerial work platforms – see: Estonian dealer for Leguan.

Simeri will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary of Finnsiirto with Simeri owners Pekka and Tommi Kolehmainen – staying on to run the business and becoming shareholders in Finnsiirto as part of the merger deal.

Finnsiirto has said the acquisition of Simeri – along with the recent takeover of Finnish earthmoving sales and service company Suomen Telakone – will allow it to play a significant role at a national level whilst also giving it a presence in the Baltics. The combined revenues of the new group will be in the region of €60 million, with 120 employees.

Based in Vakiotie, outside of Turku, Finnsiirto is owned by private equity firm Folmer Equity Fund II, and specialises in the sale and rental of Hyundai, Ausa and Avant Tecno forklifts, loaders and telehandlers. It also has a service and parts division.
