Third generation CEO for Huisman

Dutch heavy crane and offshore manufacturer Huisman has appointed David Roodenburg as chief executive, taking over from Theo Bruijninckx who will remain with the company as chief financial officer.

David Roodenburg is the third generation of Roodenburg family to lead Huisman, having joined the company in 2008 as a local branch developer. Responsible for order intake, he later oversaw the establishment of Huisman’s facility in Brazil. In 2013, he was appointed manager system architecture before moving to a new businesses development role in 2016. The following year he moved to his current role as manager of the Tender Engineering and Product Development department.

Huisman president Joop Roodenburg, said: “I am very proud to handover the company to my son David as chief executive, just as my father handed over to me. I am confident that he, together with the management team, will lead the company forward and that it will remain the leader in heavy construction equipment.”

I am very proud to take this position and to fulfil my grandfathers’ wish to succeed Joop. Huisman president Joop Roodenburg


Joop Roodenburg will remain with the company in an advisory role, focussing on development of technical solutions, new business opportunities, tenders, relationships with key clients and supporting the company’s management team.

Huisman has been owned and managed by the Roodenburg family since 1980, with Joop taking over from father Les in 1990. Huisman now has 2,000 employees working from seven locations around the world.
