Second Gottwald for SIR

Italian port operator Servizi Industriali (SIR) has ordered a second Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour crane for the port of Brindisi on the Adriatic Sea.

Scheduled for delivery in May and joining a 85 tonne Gottwald Model 2 harbour crane purchased in 2018, the new G HMK 5506 has a maximum capacity of 125 tonnes and up to 51 metre radius. Supplied with a motor grab attachment, both cranes will be used handle bulk materials as well as for general and project cargo.

SIR managing director Antonio Roma, said: “We have been very pleased with our first Konecranes purchase. With its maximum lifting capacity of 80 tonne it offers us already high flexibility in bulk materials and general cargo handling. But now we need to increase capacity. We decided on Konecranes again because we were looking for a high performance crane that would allow us to handle much larger volumes of bulk, as well as more general and heavier project cargo when required.”
