First Spierings crawler for UK

UK rental company Hawks Crane Hire is set to take delivery of the first Spierings SK2400-R crawler mounted self-erecting tower crane in the UK next week.

The SK2400-R has a maximum capacity of 18 tonnes - which it can take to a radius of 14.6 metres - and can handle 5.5 tonnes at its 42 metre jib tip. It offers a horizontal hook height of 35.5 metres and a maximum 55 metres when luffed 30 degrees.

Powered by a Stage V diesel the SK2400-R can unload and self-install its counterweight and tracks as well as travel when fully erected without the need to fold the tower or jib. It also only requires two trailers for transport and claims to have a total setup time of less than 60 minutes.

Hawks Crane Hire managing director, Elliot Hawkins, said: “Even in this subdued market we are excited about the potential prospects of this new crane and are eager to let the market know of its arrival. As always, we try and push new innovative products into the market that resolve issues where there was no clear solution before. The SK2400-R crawler tower crane fixes many issues we have been having due to lack of space on site, low operating wind speeds and lack of lifting capacity.”

Based in Darford, Hawks Crane Hire offers a fleet of crawler cranes - topped by a 350 tonne Kobelco CKE3000GS - as well as a fleet of flat top, saddle jib and luffing jib tower cranes.

I didn’t think Hawks had the 350 ton Kobelco, pretty sure the one you are thinking about went to SECH.
