Telehandlers for National Platforms

UK virtual rental company National Platforms has added to its business with the launch of National Telehandlers

National Platforms was established last October by access veteran John Hall – along with business partners Ian Davis and Mike Dell – as a collaborative network of UK independent access rental companies that shares a similar business model to Vanarama. Members are allocated postcode areas throughout the UK with sales generated through National Platforms passed on to corresponding areas. As well as benefiting from a single brand, a centralised sales hub and a collective marketing budget, members continue to operate under their independent brands.

So far National Platforms has signed up 16 member companies with a combined fleet of around 2,800 aerial work platforms. It hopes to extend this to 30 members by the end of the year with members offering the full range of platforms, including truck and van mounts along with IPAF training.

The company has now launched National Telehandlers which will share the same business model but for the rental of … you guessed it, telehandlers. It will be headed by Lee Rigby – who joins the business from Riwal where he was UK commercial manager.

Hall began his access career in 1996 as a depot manager for Nationwide Platforms, becoming a regional manager in 2001 and regional sales manager in 2003. He left Nationwide to join AFI as a regional manager in 2005 before becoming a director of midlands based access rental company Platform Hire in 2008. In 2016 he returned at AFI for a further three years, leaving to become a director of NDM Hub, which is owned by National Platforms’ business partner, Ian Davis.

Hall, said: “A love of football and Wolverhampton Wanderers brought me and Ian together over 10 years ago. 10 years later and with the same passion for Wolves, a valued friendship has been developed into a new business venture. I wanted to be different, I wanted to do something that wasn’t being done already, I wanted to work with independent companies and help the dedicated business owners around the UK. Our desire is to ensure National Platforms remains the problem solver of the access platform rental industry, supporting customers who need to work at height by connecting them with our network of industry expert specialist members.”
