First RMG for Canada

Canadian terminal operator Termont Montreal has ordered the first Liebherr rail mounted gantry (RMG) crane in the country as well as another Liebherr ship to shore container crane.

Scheduled for its Viau terminal, the rail mounted gantry crane can lift 65 tonnes with its twin lift spreader. It offers a span of 36.6 metres and can stack containers one over five high with a lift height over the rail of 18.5 metres.

The ship to shore crane has a waterside outreach of 48 metres and a back reach of 15.2 metres. It also provides a lift over rail height of 33.5 metres and a span of 18.3 metres.

Termont Montreal has taken delivery of the first Liebherr rail mounted gantry crane in Canada


Ray Cronin, Liebherr Container Cranes area sales manager for the Americas, said: “We are delighted with this latest order from Termont, a partner with whom we have a long-standing and successful relationship. We are very proud to continue this partnership and to provide equipment that will drive productivity and allow us to continue providing service and support for decades to come.”

The new cranes join five Liebherr ship to shore cranes and 11 rubber tyred gantry cranes operating at the terminal which opened in 2016.
