Fork truck veteran joins Magni

Telehandler and fork truck industry veteran Lindsay Shankland has been appointed chief executive of Magni telehandlers South Africa.

Shankland has been a joint owner of the Verlinde Cranes & Hoists South Africa since 2013, with the business currently managed by his son Warren. Until his recent retirement he was managing director of Manitou Southern Africa, having joined the company in 2002, when he would have worked with Magni Telehandlers owner and founder Ricardo Magni - who founded and then managed the business that became Manitou Italia.

Lindsay Shankland


A mechanical engineer by training, Shankland began his material handling career in 1972 with Barloworld Handling/Hyster Forklifts South Africa, rising to sales director before leaving the company in 1988 to take up a similar role at Saficon Industrial/Toyota Forklifts. He left the Toyota business almost 14 years later to join Manitou South Africa in 2002. Over the years he has developed an expertise in mining equipment, a critical industry in South Africa.
