New R&D head for WernerCo Europe
Ladder and low level access specialist WernerCo has promoted Steve Lock, currently director of product engineering, to head of R&D and quality. He will now be responsible for projects across the Europe, Africa and Middle East region with a strategy to further align the company’s European offering.
He replaces Werner/Youngman veteran Paul Bruton, who has retired after 45 years in the ladder industry - all if spent with Youngman/WernerCo. The two men have worked together for the past nine months to ensure a smooth transition.

Steve Lock
Lock joined the company in November following almost five years as technical director at hydraulic press manufacturer P.J Hare. He began his career in 1995 as a design engineer with Westwind/Westwind Air Bearings and was later promoted to engineering manager. In 2008 he made a move to slitter/rewinder manufacturer Atlas Converting equipment where he was appointed engineering manager. He then spent most of 2014 with packaging machinery manufacturer Endoline Machinery before joining Hare at the end of that year.
Managing director Justin White said: “We are delighted to have Steve in the team, as he brings with him extensive knowledge that will be invaluable to the future development of our product ranges in the coming years. His responsibility for EMEA projects also comes at an exciting time as we look forward to a number of major new product developments later this year as we get back to business following the impact of Coronavirus.”
“Steve steps into the large shoes left behind by Paul Bruton, who has been an integral part of the team at WernerCo over many years.”
