AC 220 for Heeren

Dutch crane and transport company Heeren Groep has taken delivery of a 220 tonne Demag AC 220-5 All Terrain crane.

Replacing an aging Demag 200-1, the new five axle AC 220-5 features an eight section 78 metre main boom, plus an 11.4 to 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension for a maximum tip height of 102 metres. Its first job was installing precast concrete elements with a second job scheduled that requires the use of its 21 metre extension.

Ronald Leeuw, operational manager for Heeren’s crane rental division, said: “Demag cranes have been an essential part of our fleet for a long time now. In the past, the range of products we had went from the AC 100 to the big AC 1200. It did an absolutely wonderful job lifting and placing precast concrete elements. In addition, a job where it will be using the 21-meter main boom extension for the first time ever is just around the corner, so the crane will be working with a system length of 99 metres.”
