New Spierings for Franche Comté Levage

French crane rental company Franche Comté Levage has taken delivery of a new four axle Spierings SK597-AT4.

The new crane has a 48 metre jib which can be luffed up to 45 degrees above horizontal to for a maximum hook height of 58.1 metres at which it can lift 1,700kg. Maximum capacity is seven tonnes at a 14 metre radius.

The new crane leaves the Spierings plant


This is the second four axle Spierings that the company has purchased, having taken delivery of its first unit in 2013. The chassis on this latest model is powered by the latest DAF Euro 6 diesel matched to a ZF TraXon transmission, while the superstructure is powered by a Caterpillar Stage V engine.

Chief executive, Jean-Jacques Bourgeois, said: “We have developed a significant specialist business for our Spierings since 2013, which encouraged us to renew it in order to offer our customers a more modern, reliable machine with lifting capacities that perfectly match their needs. This new crane meets the very latest emission standards with increased power and speed. It completes our fleet of 16 cranes from 30 to 220 tonnes."

Based in Velesmes Essarts on the south side of Besançon, near the Swiss border, the company is part of heavy transport company Transports Bourgeois and runs a fleet of 16 mobile cranes up to 220 tonnes, as well as a number of spider cranes.
